Senior Consultant, Plastic Surgery
Dr. Karoon Agrawal, currently serving as Senior Consultant, Plastic Surgery at the National Heart Institute, is a senior surgeon with 40+ years of experience in plastic and reconstructive procedures in cleft care. He studied at PGIMER Chandigarh in 1983, and at the Craniofacial Institute, Michigan, USA in 1993. He established the department of plastic surgery at Medical College, Rohtak, and a state-of-the-art plastic surgery center at JIPMER Pondicherry.
He has established a new schedule for primary cleft lip and palate surgery for developing countries and holds many innovations to his credit in cleft surgery. He even dons many hats as an educationist, ethical committee chair, editor of textbooks, and reviewer of journals, among others.
He is the Founding Editor of the Journal of Cleft Lip Palate and Craniofacial Anomalies and member of many national and international professional associations, including the American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association and International Society for Burn Injuries.
Dr. Agrawal is a member of Smile Train’s Global Advisory Board and India Medical Advisory Council and Smile Train Project Director at the National Heart Institute, New Delhi.
