An alumnus of Government Medical College, Amritsar,and Dayanand Medical College & Hospital, Ludhiana, Dr. Singh has vast teaching experience of more than 30 years in total and more than 15 years specifically in Anaesthesia for Gastrointestinal, Hepatobiliary and Liver Transplant surgery.
Presently working as Professor & Head Anaesthesiology & Critical Care, Faculty of Medical Sciences, SGT University, Gurugram, Haryana, he has, in the past.been working at various teaching institutions of eminence including Medical College Rohtak (now Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Rohtak). He joined Central Health Services as Assistant Professor, promoted as Associate Professor and then as Professor at Lady Hardinge Medical College, and then at G B Pant Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research, New Delhi where he served as Director Professor Anaesthesia till 2018.
Dr. Singh has published 126 articles (58 International; 68 National) in peer reviewed journals of repute, contributed 12 chapters in various books and is credited with the first ever report of Subdural Block after spinal anaesthesia and a new technique of Continuous Mandibular nerve block. He has been postgraduate examiner to various universities all over the country for conduct of practical examination (DA, MD, DNB and DM, PGDBM Pain Management), and been on the selection panel of many state public service commissions as well as Union Public Service Commission for selection of faculty at various state as well as Central Health Services of India. He has also been member of Postgraduate Board of Studies of Pt B D Sharma University of Health Sciences, Rohtak, Aligarh Muslim University and Banaras Hindu University Varanasi.
Dr. Singh has held various positions in various professional bodies, including Secretary of Indian Society of Anaesthesiologists Delhi Chapter in 2005, 2012, 2013 and organized Annual conferences of Delhi chapter. He served Indian Society of Anaesthesiologists National as a Member of the Governing Council from 2009 to 2011 and Vice President 2017-18. Dr. Singh has been actively involved in the management of chronic pain, and started Pain clinics at Lady Hardinge Medical College as well as G B Pant Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research and now at SGT University. He served Indian Society for Study of Pain as Member Governing Council and Treasurer, and conducted ten live workshops for the management of acute and chronic pain. In the past he was associated with Indian Confederation of Healthcare Accreditation as Director and then as an Advisor.
He has been the Associate Editor of Indian Journal of Pain, Annals of Cardiac Anaesthesia and member of the Editorial Board of Indian Journal of Anaesthesia and Journal of Anaesthesiology and Clinical Pharmacology. Currently, he is the Joint Editor of Indian Journal of Health Sciences and Care.
His name features in the 2009 edition of Marquis Who's Who in Medicine.
