Sharmistha joined Smile Train in March 2022 and serves as the Director, Integrated Communications for India. She has more than 12 years of experience in communications, media management, advocacy, and public relations. Sharmistha oversees Smile Train India’s communications and campaign-related activities and provides strategic inputs in enhancing the brand’s value.
Prior to joining Smile Train, Sharmistha worked in senior communication and advocacy roles in some of the world’s leading nonprofits, including Save the Children and Project Concern International (now known as Global Communities), and Indian advocacy organizations like Population Foundation of India and The Coalition for Food and Nutrition Security. She also has long-standing experience working with various government institutions and is known for her credible advocacy and communications work.
Sharmistha holds a master’s degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from the Visva-Bharati University, which was founded by the first Indian Nobel Laureate, Rabindranath Tagore.
