Dr. Rebecca Jacob

Dr. Rebecca Jacob, a leading anesthesiologist in India, has been on Smile Train’s India Medical Advisory Council since 2008. She has authored nearly 100 publications in national and international journals and textbooks and has edited the textbook Understanding Paediatric Anaesthesia, which was adopted by the World Federation of Societies of Anaesthesiologists (WFSA) and translated into French, Spanish, Turkish, Indonesian, and Mandarin. The book is currently going into its 4th edition. She has also been a reviewer of the journals, Pediatric Anesthesia, JOACP, IJA, and Anaesthesia International.
Formerly a professor and head of the Department of Anaesthesia at Christian Medical College, Vellore, India, Dr. Jacob is a well-known teacher and sought-after conference speaker and has been a post-graduate examiner in many universities in India and Malaysia. She has been the President of the Asian Society of Paediatric Anaesthesiologists (ASPA), Indian Association of Paediatric Anaesthesiologists (IAPA), Research Society of Anaesthesia and Clinical Pharmacology (RSACP), and Indian Association of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Anaesthesiologists (IACTA); Chair of the Paediatric Committee of the World Federation of Societies of Anaesthesiologists (WFSA); and Member of WFSA Committee on Primary Trauma Care and WFSA Committee on Safety and Quality. Dr. Jacob has also worked in Cambodia training first responders in dealing with landmine injuries. She is currently serving on the education and safety committees of ASPA and helps organize the Paediatric Perioperative Life Support Workshops of ASPA
